Some are downloading all the government’s research on climate — convinced that, as he did in his first term, Trump will order all climate research to be scrubbed from the EPA, NASA, and other websites. Other groups prepare legal challenges, such as injunctions against the use of the military against civilians.
You end up joining a team writing a strategy for inside bureaucrats. The strategy is to urge them to not quit but to slow down the most destructive political orders. “Your oath is to the Constitution, not to a president.”
It feels good to see the range of actors getting geared up. It’s certainly a lot more than last time Trump was president. But inside your heart, you do worry it won’t be enough.
