On November 14th you’re at home when you hear the results. After multiple counts and recounts, Donald Trump is announced president-elect of the United States. He won the Electoral College but once again lost the popular vote (by 5% to Kamala Harris).
You barely take a breath before your phone lights up with a notification: Donald Trump is delivering a fiery press conference. In his meandering way, he declares the election nearly stolen and claims he should have won the popular vote. He gains steam as he promises to lock up his political persecutors and “get justice” from the “corrupt courts.” He closes to his cheering crowd, “We will wipe the woke mob off the face of the planet.”
You sleep very poorly that night. Your mind races wondering which threats are just bluster and which he’ll really try to enact.
